I need a 3D character animator

We've had an elephant animated but need help finishing it off.
I have the 3d model in a format that can be imported in to most 3d programs.
I don't know if the knitted texture will translate across in to that format, so I need help to:

- re-model
- re-texture

and will have to:

- create a rig for the model
- skin the model
- animate the model

This is very new to me so advice is welcomed. The client has given me the brief of making it more friendly looking and cuddlier.
