Animation Brief: The Book

Overview:
I’m looking for a creative designer/animator to add illustrative animation to a short live-action video. The film features a simple setup — a girl reading a book in an empty room. As she opens the book and turns the pages, animation begins to appear around her, bringing her imagination to life. The concept is that a book can open up a magical world in a child’s mind.

Background:
A volunteer previously began work on this project but only completed it halfway. I’d like to restart the process, either continuing in a similar style (see reference: previous version https://youtu.be/-rlHdyyvtoo) or exploring a new creative direction.

Creative Direction:

The animation should begin gradually — starting subtly when the girl opens the book and building as the story unfolds.

The tone should feel magical and imaginative, featuring nature elements, characters, and whimsical touches (e.g., a fairy).

The animation should enhance, not overwhelm, the live footage — keeping the girl and the physical space visible and central.

The overall mood should evoke wonder, creativity, and childlike discovery.

I’m open to ideas and collaboration — the final animation can come from your own imagination. The brief is meant as a guide, not a restriction.

I would like to enter the final film into film festivals with credit to the animator.
