Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
Information for the business: Training courses for offshore marine mammal observers
Design details: I need a video or gif that I can import into power point for a presentation on underwater acoustics. The animations need to be around 10 seconds in length and are fairly basic with straight lines, simple colours and smooth curves
There are 2 animations that I need;
1 - spherical spreading, which I visualize as a sphere expanding from a point that appears in a blue medium. There is no sea surface and no sea floor in this example. The wall of the sphere starts as solid white and becomes more translucent as it continuously expands until the wall disappears all together. This shows spherical spreading of sound in an infinite ocean
2 - cylindrical spreading, this example is a cross section through a simplified representation of the sea, it has a sea surface and a sea floor which are shown as basic straight lines. It begins similar to the spherical spreading animation with a point and an expanding sphere, until the top and bottom of the sphere meet the sea surface and the sea floor where it continues to expand as a cylinder (more accurately a horizontal slice through the middle of the sphere). The difference to show in this example is how the walls of the sphere and then cylinder become translucent more slowly than the spherical example which illustrates an increased transmission of sound intensity.
See the link below for more information on the processes I want to show, and a reference for the basic visual style

Ideas for the visual style: Simple colours and shapes
Things to avoid: Texture or animation of the sea surface or sea bed, it needs to be simple!
Extra notes: I am writing a presentation on the basics of sound in water for a training course on monitoring marine mammal vocalisations. The job needs to be completed by Monday the 26th of January.
I need someone who can produce a basic animation quite quickly.
