Design details: We have purchased a 3d model of human anatomy from turbo squid:

We need to be able to pose the model using the existing rigging and then select each of the main anatomical features (skin, skeleton, muscle nerves etc.) and export them as individual meshes for a real-time simulation.

However, when opening the model in Maya we have found the internal node structure to be highly complex and not at all intuitive.

We also need to have the rigging extended to allow us to open the mouth as if a dentist was going to operate on the character.

The tasks are then:
1) Clean up and simplify the model so we can still reposition the model using the rigged skeleton but it is simple for us to select each main anatomical type (bones, muscle, skin etc.) and then export. This will include removing/hiding all unnecessary geometry including any duplicate meshes
2) Add rigging to allow us to open the mouth
