Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I have a task for a 2D/3D CAD-competent mechanical engineer in the A3/M3 (UK) area.
My client originally commissioned me to fault-find a wind turbine. The task has grown so now I am designing a new machine for them. I need a CAD-competent mechanical engineer with experience of steel structures, shafts, and welding, to turn my design sketches into scheme and production drawings of the tower and rotor hub and infill mechanical details such as selection of bearings and couplings. This beast stands 37m high and weighs 30t or so, and has a design life of 20 years in a coastal environment.
The work is to begin immediately and last for no more than three months - the client is ordering the electrical components already.
You will need your own licence for whatever CAD tool (e.g. Solidworks, Pro/Engineer, Solid Edge, Catia...) you use, unless you are familiar with Keycreator for which I have a licence. You will probably have to work from your own premises, but frequent meetings with me and with the manufacturing subcontractors will be essential to maintaining technical communication and progress.
You will need a track record in CAD in mechanical engineering - much as I am keen to help young engineers to develop their skills, I'm sorry, this is not a job for a novice, nor is it a job for graphic designers or architectural technicians.
