Data Guru - Part Time - Home Working

We are a manufacturer and on-line retailer of clothing. Our central IT system is built upon an extensive MySQL OLTP database. As a fast moving business we often need to carry out ad-hoc queries and data extractions from this database, a task that requires a detailed knowledge of our data-model and strong SQL skills. There are also times when data-related problems need to be investigated and, if necessary, modifications made to the data using SQL.

We are looking for a Database Guru who can be the “go to person” for these tasks. The ideal candidate will:
• Have at least 5 years hands-on experience working with Relational Databases in a commercial environment of which at least 2 years will be with MySQL
• Have at least 3 years data-modelling experience, with the ability to quickly absorb and understand data models
• Be expert in SQL
• Have a track record supporting business critical systems, containing critical data
• Work methodically, accurately and cautiously
• Keep accurate records of work carried out
• Be familiar with UK Data Protection legislation and be accountable for the correct handling of our data whilst in your control

We will guarantee a minimum of 8 hours work per week, for a period of no less than 6 months. During busy periods we may need more of your time. You will work remotely, so your location is not important as long as you have fast & reliable Internet connectivity.
