Description
Experience Level: Entry
Hi
I am putting together a charity poetry art book which I intend to self-publish. The book is inspired by butterfly wings /fairy wings.
I'm looking at setting up a 'community project' on kickstarter, and then self-publishing this book. The books is an art/poetry book. I'm looking to feature artists and their 'wings' within this high-quality art book, which is set to receive a lot of social media/press coverage through an intense campaign drive during the kickstarter and launch phase. The book will have roughly 150 images of Wings, contributed by various artists from around the world. Each image will be printed in the books, along with the artists name and corresponding poetry on the opposite page.
I am looking for artists to submit 5 x wings (or more if you want to feature extensively within the book) Each wing will be designed according to the emotion/feeling/ experience I assign to you for eg: i may ask you to create wings showing anger, joy, depression, happiness, magic, revenge, contradiction, innocence)
Each wing you design, should be submitted in 1 x black and white format (before you fill it with colour), so your outline of the wing (i will use this version to create a colouring book), and then a second version in full colour. I will need the wings to be drawn in 2d format, as if someone is looking straight at them (as opposed to from an angle, or from another view above, below etc). I can send examples. I only need the wings drawn and not an actual butterfly or no fairies, just the wings by themselves (See examples attached).
The wings will need to be submitted to me in PDF and/or AI/PSD files. They must have a resolution of 300dpi (no less as they won't print in clarity).
You will need to sign a digital agreement, providing me with permission to use your image, reproduce it and basically have full rights over placing it in the book or elsewhere. This is a standard agreement with artists, but we really want to ensure we do everything correctly.
If you agree to join this major project (which is likely to get attention due to it going on kickstarter), you will benefit from your name appearing in the book itself, on our website, as well as having the book publicised across Facebook, Pinterest, You Tube, Instagram, Flickr. Since we will be driving traffic to the campaign.
I understand that not all artists will be willing to work for free or accept a token $10 amount, so no offense shall be taken if you reject this work. However for those who can visualise what we are trying to achieve here, and would love to be part of it, i'd love to hear from you, as i build an artist community for this exciting project. We will have our FB page for all our community artists too, to help promote them individually.
I'm looking for volunteer artists (or those who can join the initiative for a token sum payout of $10). Please note this is a 'community project' so please do ignore this job, if you feel you can't contribute (or don't wish to get involved with) this initiative. I do appreciate and understand that not everyone would like to get involved with something like this.
If you feel you can only contribute less than 5 x wings, due to your own time constraints, then I'd still love to hear from you. I'm making a big ask here, I understand that, so I'd be grateful to hear from any artist who wishes to collaborate on this world-wide community project.
Our chosen charity is yet to be confirmed, but is looking likely to be a children's cancer charity in Singapore. However this will be updated once confirmed.
Please do get in touch if this project inspires you and you wish to make a difference on a page :)
