Athenaeum are now looking to recruit a sessional part-time teacher to teach courses and workshops in dressmaking and sewing skills.
You will be teaching beginner to intermediate dressmaking classes of adult groups from 6-10. You will need to have experience of teaching groups as well as excellent experience in home dressmaking, and fitting different body shapes.
The classes run on evenings and weekends and in various locations so flexibility on this is necessary.
You will need to be able to prepare and deliver teaching and learning that meets the individual needs of the learners and the service. The courses could be delivered anywhere within the Manchester Area and may be at various locations in the community. The hourly rate of pay for this course starts at £15 and is dependent on qualifications and experience.
We expect the successful candidate to support the learners throughout their learning programme, ensuring, targets are met and meaningful feedback is provided.
The successful applicants will be responsible for planning and delivering the courses, as well as their own travel to and from the delivery centres.
Hours
You will be teaching between 3 – 12 hours per week, with an hourly rate of £15+ dependent on the number of people in your class
Experience needed
– excellent dressmaking skills
– excellent fitting skills
– comfortable teaching with both woven and knit fabrics
– familiar with domestic sewing machines and overlockers
– great people skills
– patient teacher
– warm and friendly manner
