Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
I have a new company website which includes a short history of the company, in the form of a very short story, on an 'About Us' page.
I require 4 or 5 black line sketches to support the storyline on the page. The sketches will be distributed in various places through the story, breaking the body of the text.
There are two characters in the story, a male and female white Caucasian now middle aged. The characters don't need to look like their real life subjects but if possible should age to reflect the 30 year time difference between the beginning and end of the story. This is a business website so the characters should be formally dressed. The sketches can reflect a sense of fun but not be comical.
The sketches are to be delivered in high resolution digital format and their insertion points indicated.
The body of the story is shown below.
I (Sharon) was taught draughtsmanship the old-school way, using pencil and ink on a drawing board,
and after my initial training went to work in the Netherlands for an engineering firm. I spent
five years developing and honing my skills, and also learnt how to use Computer Aided
Design (CAD) software. When I returned to the UK, the country was in the early stages of its
own CAD revolution, and I was ready to put my new skills to work.
I established a computer aided drafting service called ActionCAD, and began teaching
AutoCAD at various colleges across the North West of England.
I wanted to help drawing board veterans learn new skills so they could prolong their
working lives, and I also wanted to inspire young people were starting from scratch. Having
worked in the days before CAD, I understood the problems some people face when
converting to a different way of producing drawings. I also wanted to stress the importance
of drawing office standards to those who did not have any engineering drawing experience.
As ActionCAD grew, I was joined by Rob who has engineering and science degrees,
and in 2006 the business became a limited company. Although BIM was only being used in
the USA at the time, Rob saw its potential as a way to help stakeholders share construction
project data. He realised that it would result in more efficient building projects, reduce
waste and increase competitiveness, and decided to integrate it into ActionCAD’s offering.
He is now qualified as a BRE Certified BIM Professional.
