Experience Level: Intermediate
Prepare and deliver a maximum 15 minute presentation on the following subject.
A presentation to be given at a Senior Management meeting to present a case for the sign off of a line manager development programme aimed at Supervisors and Contract Managers (around 70 individuals in total).
Background:
• No real line manager training has occurred in the past couple of years
• Many ER issues are being dealt with by the HR department that could have been better dealt with by line managers when the issues first occurred rather than by HR
• Many disciplinary meetings are having to be adjourned due to new information that comes to light from the employee
• Many Supervisors/Contract Managers have come up through the ranks and have no formal management qualifications
• Due to the recent investment in the HR team very little money will be available for spending on the programme (apart from course venues etc)
• Managers often revert to the Disciplinary policy when needing to improve employees performance.
The presentation should contain the following as well as any other content is appropriate:
- Why the programme is needed
- How, what, when it will be delivered
- What the programme will consist of
- What the measures of success will be
- Example of a course outline
