Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the business: We sell educational multimedia
Industry: Education
Legal topic: Contract
Description of legal work: I am currently in the process of starting an online business dealing in educational products including educational multimedia. I have reached a stage where I need to hire singers and voice over artists to complete the multimedia I wish to sell. I wish to work with these singers and voice over artists remotely and I may require an electronic legal contract/agreement to ensure the protection of my intellectual property. Perhaps the contract/agreement would need to contain the following:
*A statement that ensures the property (including contributions) remains legally mine once the artist has contributed to the project
*A statement that agrees a fee for the artist and their entitlement to royalties, attributions, etc
*A general agreement about the work to be undertaken by the artist (e.g. deadlines, etc)
* Details of pay (I wish to pay on a per completed job basis as opposed to an hourly rate)
* Statement to say that payment will be made only once I have approved the work. Success criteria will be made clear on an per job basis.
* The contributor works as a contractor/freelancer rather than an employee and would receive no royalties or further payment once they have received the agreed amount for the completed work
* Payments to be made electronically via bank transfer or PayPal
* I retain full copyright and ownership of all materials including the contribution and recorded performance of the singer
* Details about the singer's entitlement to attribution/credit (to be agreed on a per job basis)
If you are a suitably qualified solicitor who can help with this, please get in touch as soon as possible.
Thank you.
