Description
Experience Level: Entry
I need to get some legal advice from a property lawyer regarding a 1 year AST tenancy agreement.
We just got a new tenant, however, he already missed his first rent payment and now it comes with all sorts of excuses around the flat which I have not been stressed out about. Moreover, he made some rather racist accusations saying “as Romanians and Russians you are perhaps used to lower standards of health and safety- it's not the case here I assure you“.
I now wonder if I can give him 1 month's notice and cancel the 1 year AST contract on the basis that we both, the agent and landlord, felt offended by his rather racist comment and we feel uncomfortable having him as a tenant.
Also technically, the contract hasn’t been officially signed by the landlord, however, I have handed the keys to the tenant.
Now, I would like to get some legal advice on what are my chances and risks to end up the contract and ask him to leave the flat.
