Description
Experience Level: Expert
Seeking a qualified financial analyst who is adept and developing and delivering presentations. I have a bit of a conundrum; I have an internship and a summer class but the former has literally devoured my time which is why I need to contract out the school project. I need to develop a Pro Forma for a construction project relating to my job and thats what the school assignment will be on. Please read Project Outline below for more detail.
Students have to submit two files:
Working Excel model
Video explaining how to use this model (minimum five-minute duration and maximum 10 minutes).
Based on the concepts learned in this class (and hopefully outside this class), each student will develop and present a financial model using Excel (or any programming language that the student knows).
WHAT TO INCLUDE IN COOL PROJECT (pick any five tools from the list below and implement them):
Numerical Optimization (Goal Seek, Solver)
Custom VBA functions
Dropdown Menus
Sensitivity Analysis
Scenario Analysis
Pivot Tables
Anything else in Excel that students learned (ex: Conditional formatting, Forecast, Slicer, Camera, etc.)
RULES:
The project (idea and code) must be developed by the student/intern in the current semester (not from a prior semester, not from other classes, not from the internet, etc.).
The project must mainly solve a finance problem (not an IT project, not a game, etc.).
If a student copied code from anywhere else, it must be referenced and attributed (not attributing amounts to plagiarism).
Also, copied code can not constitute more than 20% of the total project code (measured by lines of code, without comments).
The following projects can not be used: Model (code) not developed by the student, Excel models from the internet, Excel models from other classes, Excel models developed in previous semesters.
RUBRIC: 48 points each are allocated for the following areas.
Originality: Is this student's original idea (vs. copied from the internet or some other class)? Answer should be YES
Relevance: Is the concept part of the Financial Analysis class (vs. information systems, information technology, OMG, etc.)? Answer should be YES
Reusability: Can other students use it? Answer should be YES
Quality: Did the model break or stop when others try to use it? Answer should be NO
Effort: Since this is a semester-long project, 15 to 20 hours of model building effort should go into this project. Can other students build the same model in less than three hours? Answer should be NO.
