I have a small but growing property investment business (1 rental property to date, plus a new property deal packaging business which has generated some promising developments but no income just yet). I have set up a limited company and will be trading from this once I have an income stream - it is dormant as yet.
I also write three strands of women's fiction, set in ancient Egypt, modern Egyptology and late 18th century/early 19th century romance set against the growing interest in ancient Egypt of the time. I need to account for these separately.
I have been doing my own bookkeeping, accounts and tax returns and have just appointed an accountant / specialist property tax adviser to take over the work. You would need to prepare the books to his standards, and in line with the mini accounts and (in due course) limited company account which he is in the process of setting up.
I would also like you to produce management accounts to help me keep track of the business. The work is fairly light for now but as the business grows, the work will increase.
Colleagues have recommended Xero (and my accountant has this) but I have been using only an Excel spreadsheet so far.
Ideally, the successful applicant would be based in Birmingham, West Midlands, UK. I would also consider applications from London-based bookkeepers.
