Description
Experience Level: Entry
Estimated project duration: Ongoing
General information for the business: Accountant
Industry: Business
Accounting software: Sage
Description of support work: Hi there, I'm Michelle (wave)
I'm based just outside of Manchester, and I've been running a small home practice for just over 3 years, now, offering bookkeeping, VAT, accounts and tax.. plus bespoke Sage creations and training.
In the coming months, I would like to concentrate on expanding the client base. I have a number of bookkeeping jobs, already, that take up my time - time that could be spent focusing on accounts and tax work, as well as, marketing and web development - and, new enquiries come in all the time.
If I could find the perfect person, I could expand all areas of the business, but as I work from home, and don't have plans to rent office space (right at this moment), I am unable to take on a member of staff... so am considering the option of working with a remote subcontracted bookkeeper.
Bear with me, I've never done this before, and its a really busy time for me!
A little bit about me - I'm FFA, and an FMAAT member in practice. I worked in Chartered offices for 15 years, before taking the plunge to go it alone. Most of my experience is on my profile, so I wont bore you here! My experience isn't so important as my personality, as I think rapport is key. I am bubbly and positive, down to earth and fair, and have very few airs and graces. That said, I do have a very certain way of doing things, and need someone who doesn't mind lending themselves to that. I need reliability above all, a half decent knowledge of Sage & bookkeeping, including basic VAT rules - not expecting perfection.. just the right attitude towards aiming for it! Happy to train a little, if necessary.
Confidentiality and not nicking my clients is another must! I will work on a contract that looks after both parties, once I have found someone, and the January rush is over! If you live near Manchester, that's a massive plus, but I wont write off a good find, if that's not the case!
Hmmm, what else....
You'll need to have Dropbox, but I could probably extend that to OneDrive Or Google Drive, if that's what you are using. There may be some postal transfer of info, too. (I would cover return costs)
You have to have Sage - 2013 at the very least - 2014 and 2015 are a bonus. I am not interested in other software users, sorry about that. I need to be able to import the work back into my Sage, once its complete.
So, if you are still awake, tell me about you - your experience, qualifications and personality. Let me know your hourly rate, how you see things working for you regards passing records, fitting in with your own commitments, etc. I am not sure how many hours yet, its going to be a work in progress for both sides, I am sure. I intend on having a Skype or meeting, and if you have references, that would be grand, but its more about you and who you are.
As mentioned, I am stupid busy with tax returns at the moment, so replies might not be instant, and if I don't reply I am so sorry, it will mean I am not interested. (made the mistake of politely declining a few times, and got dragged into further blurb!). I will answer clarification questions though.
Extra notes: Just to be really clear - I don't want to use other softwares - only Sage.
Anyone trying to sell themselves on the clarification board will get reported - use a bid credit like every good person on here has to :)
