Experience Level: Intermediate
We are an Africa-inspired premium health and beauty brand, featuring natural ingredients from the continent. In essence we are marketing company that procures raw materials from Africa, does some R&D, and then manufactures, packages and sells consumer products. We are also a start-up and will be launching next month with a range of three products.
We are essentially looking to outsource our financial management, with an emphasis on management accounting, to a highly qualified individual. The job that needs doing boils down into two parts:
1) One-off: Get your head around our business model, audit our financial model (Excel), take our historical accounts (limited data over last 12 months) and then use all inputs to create a simple but effective management accounting structure on Xero which:
a) Analyses the profitability of our products and our business
b) Enables us to manage cash flow and working capital issues
c) Enables us to manage inventory, particularly in terms of packaging and manufacturing our products - for example, one of our products consists of six different pieces, all of which have different suppliers, lead times and MOQs
2) Ongoing: Monthly management accounts and quarterly reports, as well as VAT returns, end of year accounts etc
Individual must be 1) an experienced management accounting with previous experience of product businesses 2) an expert on Xero 3) Able to audit our existing financial model (Excel) 4) Able to combine these management accounting skills with the ability to do all the regular tax/compliance stuff of a qualified accountant.
