Description
Experience Level: Entry
Description of support work: I work as a mortgage broker and store all of my client case notes in a word document (professional plus 2010), which is currently 2289 pages long. When away from the office I use Softmaker’s Free office on a laptop. Compatibility between Mircrosoft Word and Free Office’s Textmaker is pretty good on the whole, although I have just noticed that when recently opening my client database in Word (having previously used and saved the document in Textmaker) that large sections of the text are now in the ‘Wingdings’ font. Presumably Textmaker automatically converted the sections of the database that were in a Word font with which it doesn’t share compatibility.
Word unfortunately doesn’t seem to offer a simple way of converting the text back from Wingdings to anything else – the text seemingly has to be cut and pasted into a powerpoint document to be converted to a readable font, and then pasted back into the word document. I don’t have the time to go through the entire document to do this manually, so my request is…
• I need the entire word document to be cleaned up, so that any examples of wingdings are converted back to a font that is ‘readable’ by both Microsoft Word and Softmaker’s Free Office, and then the remainder of the document to also be converted to that same font (which will I obviously then use on an ongoing basis).
I would imagine this is a very quick and straightforward task, but I don’t have the knowledge to perform it, and so would gratefully appreciate the assistance.
