Excel sheet household ledger template to be set up

I need some help setting up a very simple household ledger template for my boss. I'm very stressed about it because I don't know how to do it! It has to be simple to use because I'm not very good at it. I get a cheque and use the funds until it runs out and then ask for another one. I don't need to include VAT just a gross amount. It needs to be split into categories and the formulas all added so it does it automatically and carry over any amount over the cheque. Thankyou very much!
