Description
Experience Level: Entry
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
We are a wedding entertainment agency in Scotland, and we wish to update our database of venues that we have played around the country. We would like this work completed within a week if possible.
We have a google spreadsheet of around 600 venues names (mostly around Scotland). We need to find additional data for each of these venues. This data needs to be searched for with google, and you will be required to take enough time to judge whether the data you have found is accurately related to the venue in question.
In the list we have the following data:
Venue name.
Venue postcode.
What we need is the following data:
WEBSITE/SOCIAL DATA
1. Web address
2. Twitter handle
3. Twitter bio
GEOGRAPHICAL DATA
4. Enter R if they are located in a rural address, or U if it is in an Urban address.
5. Enter the geographical region (from a selection of c.15 pre-defined geographical regions)
Explanation for finding this data:
1. We have a google link beside each venue name which googles the venue name, then automatically loads the first search result (I'm feeling Lucky).
This should, in most cases, deliver the venue website homepage. That homepage address needs to be entered in a column.
2. We have a google link which does the same as step 1 but adds the word "Twitter", and this *usually* delivers the twitter page as the first search result (if it doesn't you have to search manually, and ensure that it is the correct twitter handle). The twitter handle needs to be entered in a column.
3. If there is a twitter bio about the venue (e.g. "a five-star country house and spa in Inverness-shire") this should be entered into a column.
4. We have a link which should link directly to the postcode in google maps.
Using the postcode, enter google maps and check whether the venue is located in a city/town, or in a rural area.
The data entry person will have to use their judgement here - the venue only counts as RURAL if it is surrounded by countryside OR is in a village surrounded by countryside. Everything else is to be treated as URBAN. It may be necessary to look at street view to make a judgement on this.
5. We have scottish map images which shows the different areas. If you can do a side-by-side comparison to check which area the venue is in when you search for it in google maps.
ISSUES:
Not all of the venue names are actual venues. Some may be private residences. Others might be village halls, or civic amenities, and as such may not have websites or twitter pages. If there is confusion or doubt over whether you are looking at a commercial venue (i.e. somewhere that can be hired for a wedding or event), simply enter a ? into the cell.
If, after reviewing the data, you are still unsure whether a venue should be marked as Urban or Rural, enter your best guess and a ? after it, and we will cross check.
Not all the venues are actually in Scotland. If they are in England, just write "England". Some are in other countries. If the venue is located on an island, just write "island". For those of you who are taking the time to read this whole proposal, please also note that I am only going to consider proposals which have an attention to detail and have the word chicken written in the first line of the proposal.
There are some duplicate venues - enter the data into the first instance, and write "duplicate" next to any subsequent entry.
----------------
In your proposal, please indicate:
a) how many entries you think you would be able to complete in an hour.
b) what your hourly rate would be.
c) whether you have any further questions.
I have attached screenshots of some map areas, and also a screenshot of a row with an example venue - you would be completing the data in RED.
I may request you to do e.g. an hour's work on it so that I can review the work before asking you to continue with the remaining entries.
