We are a London local security company that supplies SIA trained security staff to clients that contact us and pay for our services.
For the last two years I completely outsourced all our staffing, just acting as a middle man. However it is more practical now for me to take the staffing direct in house. Although I rent a desk space, I have chosen at the moment not to have an office. This may change with trade levels.
Most of the staff are contractors, and self employed. This contains a fair bit of checking on our part to do all we can to ensure they are acting lawfully. We need to ensure contractors are fully aware of their status within our company. Obtain UTR numbers or company registration documents. As well as send reminders. We must still do the same reference checks (via phone/email). We must store ALL of the credit documentation with a paper trail of reminders again to show our due diligence. We want to be by the book of course, our industry natural has a high turn over of staff and uses a lot of causal labour. We need to always be complying with the law. We are also complying with the SIA - Security industry authority which requires a weekly badge checks.
Our company needs to act as efficiently as possible, no stone left uncovered. I will supply a company e-mail address and with that if you can set up and live by a calendar of reminders and tasks. I imagine the job load will be varied hugely. When we take on new people obviously their will be a higher workload. However their will be times when I need first warnings sent out. With your own hours it would be beneficial to do a bit each day at once. rather than a lot over one day.
Other to this their is a few weeks of set up work needed. We need everything in place from scratch (or templates if applicable). We need interview procedures, interview questions, questionnaires, Responses, training manuals, Health and safety, Payment procedures. Training for on site reporting. Contracts if possible (otherwise we will outsource). I think it would also be beneficial to have a staff newsletter once a month. I will contact you directly with questions and tasks, as may our staff. I may also need you to communicate with the accounts department on matters.
