I have received a sum of money from the indemnity insurance (unattached) I had for a previous home/mortgage. I have received a cheque from the insurance company and something called a “Chargeable Event Certificate”.
I would like someone to take a look at the certificate for me and help explain how much tax I will need to pay.
I have not cashed the cheque either in case there is something I can do beforehand to reduce the tax.
The sum of money has been paid to me and my spouse; we are both non tax payers.
I can scan & email any docs you need to look at.
