Introduction and Background
There is an exciting opportunity for an actuary to join my clients Capital & Risk Management Team to assist with the production, analysis and development of Capital, Solvency and Risk Investigations.
The role will require/develop a good understanding of the structure of the actuarial methods used across the group, the product range offered across the group, and the main factors that affect the financial risks that the group is exposed to. The role holder will need to develop and maintain strong working relationships with key contacts in the business.
The role will also involve working closely with the Finance Modelling and Solvency 2 teams to develop the internal model to be able to support a robust projection of the future evolution of the business and the risks to which it is exposed.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Criteria Required
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Managing and developing the company\'\'s current model office system (currently set up in Moses and Excel);
• Producing and developing regular detailed analyses of the company\'\'s solvency & capital position;
• Taking ownership of ad-hoc capital investigations and delivering robust analysis to aid in the understanding of the issues and potential solutions;
• Supporting work on the development of my clients Tax model;
• Assist with the development of my clients Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) requirements under Solvency 2 and the development of the Enterprising Risk Management Framework
• Ensuring that a robust control framework is maintained for the above activities;
• Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key contacts in the business; and
• Completion of project work to a high standard within specified timescales.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential:
• Fellow of the Faculty or Institute of Actuaries.
• Excellent analytical and financial mathematical skills.
• Proven ability to deliver solutions to a high technical standard within agreed deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good influencing skills.
• An appreciation of the need for a strong risk and control framework.
• An ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Desirable:
• Knowledge of my clients structure and products.
Key Personal Criteria Required
Analytical thinking
Your ability to fully understand the risks to which the group is exposed and the methodologies used to measure the impact of these risks and associated capital requirements will play a key part in this role.
Decision Making and Judgement
Your decision making and judgement will play a key role in reviewing the emergence of risk and in reviewing actuarial methods and capital assessments of the business units.
Responsibility
Your sense of responsibility will show through in taking ownership of issues and delivering high quality work within the agreed timescales.
Planning and Organising
You will be well-planned and organised to ensure you can deliver solutions to a high technical standard within the required timescales.
Communicating and Influencing
Your communication and influencing style will ensure that you engage with key individuals within the business units to develop strong working relationships that facilitate appropriate review and challenge of the methods used and results produced.
