Experience Level: Expert
I recently when to a holiday with my kids via discount holiday package in Tenerife on the condition I attended a sales presentation.
I attended the presentation with my wife and kids aged eight and two years. What was supposed to be a one-hour meeting turned out to be a high-pressure presentation, which included high-pressure sales tactics while my kids were present and this lasted for more than half the day.
I advised them that I did not have the funds and that I was going through a mortgage application. They insisted I could ask my mortgage provider to add it onto my loan.
During the presentation the team;
• created the impression that I could not leave the premises until a contract was formed
• made a direct appeal in front of my children to persuade us as their parents to buy the product (pester power)
• pestered me with phone calls after I left the room to check on my family, and the sales representative even followed me in the mall to the children’s play centre and during our lunch.
In the end, I signed to get out of the room, and on the condition, I could get finance from my mortgage provider.
My mortgage broker told me it was a really bad idea to consider requesting additional lending before my mortgage deal was finalised.
I advised the service provider that I wasn't interested in their product; I did this unfortunately after more than two weeks after signing the contract. I have also done some research, and it seems Keys Concierge is connected Silver Point. The later was forced payback thousands for miss-selling timeshares recently.
What are my options, can I still get out of this contract? I have not paid any deposit.
Regards
