We are a unique, boutique intellectual property firm with offices in London and Nigeria in search of a highly motivated individual with experience in IP to join our team.
Responsibilities
We are looking for candidates with experience or knowledge of intellectual property filing and registration with a a willingness to take on new challenges.
He or she will undertake the following tasks, as requested, including but not limited to the following:
• Reviewing incoming emails, noting instructions and relevant deadlines, replying where appropriate, and saving to both paper and electronic files.
• Preparing and supervising international IP filings.
• Communicating directly with clients about their IP matters and working closely with other external agents.
• Preparing and reporting correspondence to clients along with arrangement of invoices.
• Co-ordinating invoicing and accounts receivable with external Accountant.
• Managing IP database system for IP renewals and annuities.
• Preparing and sending reminders to clients for trade mark renewal deadlines and patent annuity payments.
• Otherwise assisting in other administrative tasks to ensure a smooth office workflow.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
Previous experience in IP is essential.
The ideal candidate will also have the following skills and attributes:
• Experience in a legal administrative role.
• Excellent English, both written as well as oral.
• Inherited attention to detail and past experience in multitasking.
• Experience with African IP systems and offices is desirable but not essential.
• Superb oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts to non-attorneys on a regular basis over the phone and online, providing clear advice in plain English.
• Must be willing to take initiative to ensure completion of task.
• Computer proficient, with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiar with IP Management systems (PATRICIA preferably).
• Must be willing to take initiative to ensure completion of task.
• Must be proactive, organized, detail oriented and demonstrate accuracy and consistency.
• Able to manage high volume, complex projects, meet deadlines, prioritize workload and coordinate multiple parties.
• Experience in small boutique law firms would be a big plus.
