Description
Experience Level: Expert
General information for the business: We are a R&D business collaborating with other organisations
Industry: Technology
Legal topic: Contract
Description of legal work: We have a template contract, which is written in classical legal english, and is overblown for the job in hand.
It's designed to handle collaboration where multiple parties may end up disputing IP Rights, but in our situation we are the only party developing technology IP - the others are helping us as test customers and are not likely to be as interested in IP. However, they will be deterred by an excessively long and formal contract.
We would like to take the boilerplate and shorten it from 14 pages to 5-7, and simplify the language. Basic safeguards should remain but we do not require the extent of formality and protection defined by the boilerplate.
