We use G-Drive pretty religiously in my small video production
We use G-Drive pretty religiously in my small video production company and have built a Google Form called "New Project Form" that we cant finish with our limited technical abilities.
This form would be filled out by a member of our team as they discuss with a client what video project we are undertaking and would be the entry point for a host of other documents to be created. It would act as the way we would take a brief from clients.
The form has essential information (Start date, End date, Project name, Proposed budget) for the project alongside options to add additional information. A core part of the form is the breakdown of the expected tasks within that project and what stage they fit in.
Once a member of staff has filled in this form we want three things to occur:
1 - The Brief
To be provided a pdf "ticket" within G-Drive with all of the information on for later review.
2 - Gantt Chart Schedule of Tasks
To be provided a gantt chart from the list of tasks within the project. This would run horizontally with dates, and vertically with tasks. This chart would need to populate both Dates and Tasks automatically and create a new instance of a G-Sheet upon submitting the form.
3 - Calendar
The Gantt would be filled in manually by a member of our team and populate a second tab in G-Sheets displaying the information in a calendar view (potentially with the option to export to a new google calendar that can be shared with the client). The calendar would be less detailed than the Gantt as it would just show which stage of the project we are in (i.e "Production")
If we were successful in building this, there are 2-3 other smaller G-Drive projects that i want to undertake straight away afterwards again using G-Forms and taking the information to G-Sheets.
I have flow diagrams of how the system would work and have built a limited functionality version of this with the team at Google Digital Garage in Manchester.
Let me know if this project is of interest to you and how you think it could work.
