Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 1 day or less
General information for the business: We are a UK think tank, putting together an index to understand and map heritage across the UK
Industry: Environment
Description of analysis: Must be able to work in GIS, quickly, with ESRI-comaptible files (.shp). The deadline for this work to be finalised is 28 May 2015.
For several types of land designation (mostly historic and natural conservation designations). We want to know how many (number count), and - where you are working with polygons rather than pinpoints - how much total area (square metres or hectares) exist within each local authority area in the UK.
We would like the results of this data investigation reported in Excel-compatible format, separately, for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The Local Authority Boundary shapefile (.shp) can be accessed at the link below. It is on this layer that you would add other layers, individually, and then extract the data for each.

We are looking for the following data tables to be produced from .shp files.
1 dataset for England and Wales combined (you can report as one data output and we can manually sort for whether local authority is in England or Wales)
14 datasets for Wales
13 datasets for England
15 datasets for Scotland
(This is subject to some minor adjustment up and down)
Design and target audience: We just need you to produce (Excel compatible) data tables as outputs. Your work needs to be methodical, clean and clear.
