Schools in UK use a process called 'standardisation of test scores' or STTS.
They basically take the score distribution and apply a formula of the kind S = 15(b — a)/sd + 100
To transform the child's score into a distribution with mean zero and around 33% children are expected to get a STTS of over 121 in this process.
