Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 day or less
General information for the business: Music synthesizer, hardware development
Industry: Technology
Kind of consulting: Engineering
Description of consulting work: I'm looking for an EMC/safety consultant who can review the fully functional beta model I have of a music synthesizer I have developed. The task is to review the hardware design (e.g. schematics, PCB layouts) and safety aspects (e.g. power supply, physical construction) in order to ensure the unit has a good chance of passing first time on formal EMC and safety testing (which itself is not part of this assignment).
This would be ideal for an engineer with EMC/safety experience, ideally in the consumer electronics space.
The standards the unit will be tested against include:
EN55032:2012 AC:2013
EN55035:2017
EN61000-3-2:2014
EN61000-3-3:2013
FCC Part 15B sec 107 & 109 (optional - nice to have but not essential for this assignment)
UKAS Cert & Report
I plan for this review to take at most one day. The output will be a set of recommendations for design updates that would improve the chances of a first time clean pass for the unit. The inspection can be purely visual or the consultant can use any (non destructive) equipment necessary to reach their conclusions.
This work will need to be done on site in Romsey, Hampshire although I will consider locations in Hampshire or West London if that is preferred. Please only bid on this work if you have good working knowledge of the relevant standards.
