I am looking for a UK-based accountant/legal expert with plenty of experience in dealing with HMRC (specifically National Insurance Contributions) in order to provide support to solve a tedious situation.
Here is a brief overview so that you can better understand the situation:
Employer states to have paid taxes and NIC for Employee, but when Employee checks their online HMRC account, they found out there are no contributions paid for 2017/2018 and a partial amount of contributions paid for 2016/2017.
Employer states they paid such contributions and blame HMRC for not managing to update the records (over 1 year has passed).
- How should Employee proceed to check the accuracy of Employer's statements?
- How can Employee make sure the NIC and taxes have actually been paid correctly without impacting their future pension?
