Description
The goal is to reduce the time spent searching through manuals, policies, and internal documentation by allowing employees to ask questions in natural language and receive accurate answers based on uploaded content.
The application should include a simple web interface, secure user authentication, document management, conversation history, and an admin area for managing users and knowledge sources. Performance, reliability, and clean architecture are important, as we plan to expand the system with additional features in the future.
We're open to recommendations regarding the technology stack and overall implementation. Experience with LLM integrations, vector search, APIs, and modern web application development is essential.
Please include examples of similar AI software you've developed and briefly explain how you would approach this project.
Timeline: 6–8 weeks

- When the AI answers a question, would you like it to provide citations or references to the exact document and page/section it used? Should it also summarize lengthy documents, compare policies, or simply return direct answers based on the available knowledge base?
- Could you share what types of documents the system will need to support? For example, PDFs, Word files, Excel sheets, PowerPoint presentations, internal wikis, or cloud storage platforms like Google Drive or SharePoint. Will documents be uploaded manually, or should the system automatically synchronize with existing repositories? -

Hey Maro, should all authenticated users access the same knowledge base, or do different teams need separate document permissions that must also be enforced when the AI retrieves and answers from those sources?
-

Will your knowledge base consist solely of uploaded documents, or should the assistant also retrieve information from existing systems such as SharePoint, Google Drive, Confluence, Notion, or internal databases?
Should every AI response include citations linking back to the exact document, page, or paragraph it was generated from, or is source attribution not required for your use case?
How should document permissions work? For example, should employees only be able to query documents they already have permission to access, or will the AI operate over a shared company-wide knowledge base?
Do you expect the assistant to answer questions only, or should it also summarize documents, compare policies, generate reports, draft internal documents, and perform multi-step reasoning over several knowledge sources?
As the platform grows, do you envision supporting multiple AI models, departmental knowledge bases, approval workflows for newly uploaded documents, and usage analytics, or should the initial architecture focus exclusively on a single company-wide assistant?
