Description
Experience Level: Expert
I have a catalogue of 24.8k products with these columns:
Product ID, SKU, OE Part number (where applicable), equivalent or alternative OE number, item name, description [flawed], URLs to images, page title, meta ket words, meta description, URL, string of 6 digit chassis codes, comma delimited, URLS to competitors websites, commercial delimited.
my descriptions are very poor. years of bad practice, under skilled writers and low prioritisation of detailed descriptions. In many cases the description is limited to just the item name, however there are some with useful information, and a small number with very elaborate and thought out descriptions.
My ambition is to write unique product descriptions for each item. First, inspect my website for the general tone of language. pay particular attention to the parts pages, and any longer format descriptions that already exist.
then:
- Analyse my existing description and take note of any useful or technical information that may be carried forward.
- Where given, check the competitor links for any similar information about the product, its construction or fitment guide.
- Using the OE part number, seek for new sources, other than those I've nominated in the CSV file.
- Seek for semantics, e.g. torsion arm/sway bar/anti-roll bar are different names for the same item.
Then build a product description. aiming for 250 words, but never compromise on the quality of the description. (i.e. don't dilute or recap, purely to meet word count targets)
Finish the description with a. bullet-pointed list of what vehicles the part is "- compatible with the following classic Mercedes models", using the 6 digit chassis codes (where given) and looking them up in a separate CSV legend which gives plain English words.
I'd also like recommendations for the Meta Key Words as well as Meta Description, as well as image ALT tags for 3 images, which take into account semantics as well as any German terms for the item.
