Backend Developer Needed (Chatwoot + AI Integration)

Job Description

I’m building Shipzo AI, a 24/7 AI-assisted response system for businesses in Mauritius (WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok).

This is a backend-only, short-term contract.
Frontend, design, and UI work are NOT required.

We are using Chatwoot (self-hosted) as the inbox infrastructure and building a separate AI middleware on top of it.

Scope of Work (VERY CLEAR)

You will be responsible for:

Integrating Chatwoot webhooks (incoming messages)

Fetching conversation context from Chatwoot

Sending message context to an AI API

Returning AI-generated reply suggestions (NOT auto-send)

Ensuring human approval flow (v1 – no automation)

Clean, documented backend code


No frontend. No UI. No mobile apps.

Ideal Developer Profile

Strong backend experience (APIs, webhooks)

Familiar with SaaS-style systems

Experience with Chatwoot or similar inbox platforms is a big plus

Can read and follow a written technical spec

Communicates clearly
