Description
Experience Level: Entry
I am a Lecturer in Strategic and Security studies at the University of Sussex. I am currently on research leave in order to conduct a research project on the British military's campaign in Afghanistan.
I need a UK-based transcriber who can transcribe several digital recordings of small-group and individual interviews conducted for my research (in MP3 format). Interviews deal with non-secret military-security issues, but transcriptions will have to remain confidential and cannot be shown to any other third party. Interviews will be conducted in private office settings, so they will be clearly audible. Battalion interviews usually last between 50 and 80 minutes each and, thus, come in batches of about 7-12 separate interviews. I currently have on file 2 battalions and several other interviews scheduled for transcription.
Interviews are clear and easy to listen to.
An understanding of military issues and of the Afghanistan campaign (from viewing the news) and, more importantly, good transcription skills are needed for this job.
Rate: 6-7 pounds per hour.
Please get back to me with you a basic outline of transcription work experience, type of software and/or hardware used for transcription and how many pence per digitally recorded minute you would charge.
I initially want to hire a transcriber on a trial basis (1 or 2 interviews) before committing to a longer term relationship as I have had some poor experiences in the past with cowboy (i.e., unprofessional) transcribers and I will be paying for transcriptions out of my own pocket.
I look forward to your reply.
Best wishes,
Sergio
