Description
Experience Level: Entry
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
Proposal: Data Entry and Search Task
Background on School Leaver Programmes
School Leaver Programmes are generally designed for students in the United Kingdom to attend at the end of their schooling as an alternative to University. They usually have relatively high entry requirements and often require students to undergo entrance tests and interviews. Competition for places is often fierce, as completion usually leads to industry standard qualifications, and the opportunity to continue into a full time role.
Personal Requirements for the Task
• Excellent grasp of English
• Basic standard of Excel / Data Entry
• Knowledge of UK education / Careers sector is desirable.
Task
We require information on existing companies’ School Leaver Programme vacancies currently advertised on their individual websites or careers microsites. This must be placed into a pre-existing format - see the attached spreadsheet, where an example (EY) has been completed for you.
More detailed notes are laid out below, but it’s important to realise that:
• There will be instances where a direct match of data is not possible. In this scenario there will need to be a decision made as to whether the data is a good fit for what is required; an example of this happening would be where ‘qualifications required’ are listed in the main body of text on the website, but will need to be separated in order to populate the relevant columns in the spreadsheet.
• Some of the data will need to be converted into the correct format, e.g. Salary needs to be a weekly wage. More notes are available below, and as comments on the spreadsheet.
For this task we will require the vacancies of:
• BDO – School Leaver (approx. 66 Vacancies in 4 areas, majority will have identical details)
• Accenture – Apprenticeship/Horizons (approx. 3* Types of Vacancy, perhaps multiple vacancies in London/Newcastle & Horizons)
• Boots – TBC (approx. X Vacancies)
Notes
You will need to ensure that:
• Each line must be as complete as possible.
• Some employers offer multiple locations for the same programme. These must be treated as individual vacancies. For example: a School Leaver Programme in Nottingham should be listed on a separate line to a School Leaver Programme in London. Many of the cells will remain the same, some will be different, e.g. Post code / Salary.
• Data must be from a verified source, the company website is the primary source.
• The correct year has been selected. The vacancies being sought are for Summer 2015 onwards.
• If the dates for applications is ongoing this should be set to 1/8/XX
• Where there is missing data a Value of 0 should be submitted. Where a date of Spring/Summer/Autumn/Winter is given the dates shall be taken as 1st March, 1st June, 1st September and 1st December respectively.
• Post codes should be submitted as the post code of the main location that the placement will take place. In cases where the placements are in multiple locations, the first location should be the one recorded.
• Any programme that has a UCAS code and is based at a University is a sponsored degree and won’t need to be included.
• Any programme that is known as an ‘Apprenticeship’ might also feature on the National Apprenticeship website (www.apprenticeships.org.uk) at certain times of the year and should only be included if the date of the vacancy is unknown.
• Any links to Youtube Videos and or further information must be from an accredited source such as the employer or awarding body.
