Task 1
Database of Course enrolment
You are required to create a simple Microsoft Access database to enable Golden Eagle University to achieve operational excellence and enhance student satisfaction to attain higher student retention.
You will be provided with a copy of enrolled Students, Departments and Courses.
The database should combine reliability, functionality and be user-friendly.
Golden Eagle University’s vision is that the database would allow GEU’s staff to store administer and manage all aspects of student information.
The database application would then be required to fulfil the following tasks:
1. Hold an up-to-date detail of the entire students enrolled at Golden Eagle University
2. Produce management information showing:
a. Enrolment and module registration
b. Weekly Attendance
c. Student enrolment status and academic progress
d. Course enrolment
e. Fees generated for every course
3. Admission letter for students
Task 2 A
Table Creation and relationships
1. Create a new Microsoft Access database with at least THREE tables
2. Create a new table called Student and input the current list of students with a key field
3. Create a new table called Course and input the current list of Courses with a key field
4. Create a new table called Module. Decide on all the fields required.
5. Work out a way to link the Module to the Student table so that ONE Module can link to multiple students.
Task 2 B
Form design and implementation
1. Create at least THREE forms
2. Add/edit a new Student record
3. Add/edit a new Department record
4. Add/edit a new Module.
Use the module form to enter at least 20 different students for different modules
You should enter records to show that it is possible for several students to be registered on one module.
Task 2 C
Report design and implementation
1. Create at least TWO Reports
2. Select a specific Course and see all the students that have enrol on the course vehicle
3. Select a single Department and review details of all the courses offered by the Department
Add more functionality such as using excel spreadsheet to mail merge student contact details to produce:
Offer letter to accepted students
Rejection letter to unsuccessful applicants
Task 2 D
User guide
Create a simple user guide for the system, which can be given to Golden Eagle University’s staff so they can understand how to use the Database.
Task 2 E
Menu system
Create a simple user-friendly Navigation Form to provide easy access to all Forms.
