Description
Experience Level: Entry
Hi,
I am looking to compare the prices of products sold by two different retailers. The project is divided into 90 categories. For each category I want 5 products to be entered in to the spreadsheet. The products must be the same brand and weight / size.
The two retailers I am comparing are ASDA (http://groceries.asda.com/asda-webstore/landing/home.shtml#/cat/1215337189632) and British Corner Shop (http://www.britishcornershop.co.uk/)
All of the categories can be found in ASDA's Food Cupboard main category.
The process is as follows:
1. Choose a category from the spreadsheet
2. Find that category on the ASDA website
3. Browse the products in the category, copy the name of one and paste it into the search bar for British Corner Shop.
4. See if BCS sell the same product, ensuring the same product type, brand and weight.
5. If so, copy the product name into the spreadsheet.
6. In the next column copy the British Corner Shop price.
7. In the third column copy the ASDA price
A few things to note:
1) Do not compare ASDA's own labelled products (e.g. 'Chosen by ASDA')
2) If a product is on sale then copy its original price in to the spreadsheet. For ASDA it will say 'Rollback' when a product is on sale.
3) If there aren't 5 comparable products in a category then continue on to the next one, but please highlight the name of the category in yellow.
4) In a given category try not to compare 5 products that are all the same brand. For example, in the Rice Snacks category, do not just compare Uncle Ben's products. Try to include products from other brands like John West and Baxter's.
It is very important to make sure the products are actually the same.
Please see the attached spreadsheet for the categories. I have included an example category.
I am sensitive to price, so if you willing to charge less I will be more likely to pick you for the job.
Thanks,
Gus
