Structure-Aware Chunking —Preserve Headers, Tables & Code Blocks

I will implement document-structure-aware chunking for your content — splitting Markdown, HTML, or PDF documents along natural structural boundaries (headers, sections, tables, and code blocks), preserving structural context in chunk metadata, and handling each element type with appropriate chunking logic. Structure-unaware chunking produces some of RAG's worst failure modes — a table split across chunk boundaries that becomes two useless partial tables, a code block split mid-function that produces syntactically invalid fragments, or a section's first paragraph separated from the header that gives it context; structure-aware chunking eliminates these failures by respecting document structure.

The implementation covers Markdown header hierarchy splitting, HTML section and element-aware splitting, PDF structural parsing, table preservation as atomic chunks, code block preservation without mid-function splits, metadata enrichment with section path, and retrieval quality comparison against character-based splitting.
