Research Prompt Chain — Multi-Step Research & Synthesis

I will build a research prompt chain — covering query decomposition into sub-questions, per-sub-question research and summarisation, cross-source contradiction detection, progressive synthesis from atomic findings to a coherent report, and a final quality check against completeness criteria. Research prompt chains produce more comprehensive and accurate outputs than single-pass research prompts because each chain step can focus — the decomposition step focuses on identifying all relevant angles, the per-question step focuses on finding the best answer to one specific question, and the synthesis step focuses on coherently integrating findings — rather than all three happening in one overloaded generation.

The chain covers query decomposition, per-sub-question research prompts, contradiction detection across sources, progressive synthesis through multiple abstraction levels, completeness validation against the original query, and a structured research report output.
