Perform In-Depth Professional Keyword Research

During my time as an SEO consultant, I have designed my own in-depth keyword research system that I follow with all of my SEO clients. This will provide you with the necessary knowledge to optimise your site to its fullest potential.

I begin by collecting Keywords from a broad range of sources (Not just Google Keyword Planner!). This will give you lots of phrases and keywords you might not have thought of.

I'll then analyse them and place them into a spreadsheet along with the following data for each keyword:

• Monthly Search Volume - Data is not exact but are given in ranges and will be given for the UK unless otherwise requested.

• Moz ranking difficultly Score - A score of 1-100 provided by professional SEO analysis software MOZ (100 being the most difficult). The best way to think about a KW Difficulty score is as a predictor for the level of challenge an "average" website will have ranking for that keyword.

• Organic Click through rate - CTR estimate based on the Search Engine Results Page position. For example, position 1 gets approx 34% clicks, position 2 gets approx 17% clicks etc.

You are then left with a comprehensive list of words and data that you can sort through to identify the key areas on which to focus.
