MongoDB Sharded Cluster Setup — Horizontal Scaling Configuration

I will design and configure a MongoDB sharded cluster for your environment — covering shard key selection analysis, config server replica set configuration, mongos router setup, shard addition and chunk distribution, zone sharding for data locality requirements, balancer configuration, and application-layer connection routing to mongos. Shard key selection is the single most important decision in a MongoDB sharded cluster; a poorly chosen shard key creates hotspot shards where all write traffic concentrates on a single shard, negating the horizontal scaling benefit of sharding entirely and degrading performance below a well-tuned replica set.
