I will refactor a targeted section of your legacy Java codebase — applying appropriate design patterns, SOLID principles, and modern Java idioms to transform tightly coupled, hard-to-maintain code into a clean, extensible, testable architecture without changing its external behaviour. Legacy Java codebases accumulate architectural problems over years of feature additions under deadline pressure; the codebase that was manageable at 10,000 lines becomes a change-risk liability at 100,000 lines when the original architecture was not designed for the scale it reached.
The refactoring scope covers up to 1,500 lines of code, applying patterns including but not limited to Strategy, Factory, Builder, Observer, Repository, Dependency Injection, and Command as appropriate to the code's specific structural problems. Every refactoring step is made with the existing unit test suite as a safety net (or I write characterisation tests first where tests are absent). A refactoring report documents every pattern applied, the problem it addressed, and the maintainability improvement delivered.
