What you get with this Offer
This offer will help you to record and process data stored in text file formats, opened in Wordpad and notepad.
Using the power of Microsoft Excel Macros, I will create a spreadsheet in which a user will select singular and multiple files at once for processing, this will then scrape the appropriate information out of the files and enter it into a datasheet in the excel file. The macro will fully automate this process, storing data based on the criteria set at the start. the only manual step needed will be to select the files you want to retrieve data from.
The spreadsheet process will be quick and use the following steps:
1. [Manual] - Select Files to be Scrapped
2. [Automated] - Open all the files in the background
3. [Automated] - Identifying data points to be saved
4. [Automated] - Copy into Excel in relational column format
5. [Automated] - Populate full data table
6. [Automated] - Save File and update Summary
The excel file is perfect for analyzing the data in a more editable format. This will save valuable time not having to enter this information manually.
In the past, this has been useful for processing mass amounts of text result logs from machinery and from system outputs that are not excel friendly, usually from branded systems or UNIX systems. Also used for Logging of error logs etc.
Files will be sent in excel format and will include a mini work instruction that will document how to use the excel sheet, including details for further support.

What the Freelancer needs to start the work
Initially, all I would need is a scope covering what data is held in the text files, what it means, and how you would like the data laid out. This first conversation can be done by email or other means, then I can get right to work!
