    I am a fully trained print journalist with almost 15 years of experience. For the past six years I have run my own media company, successfully tendering for a range of contracts, including producing magazines, corporate publications, website content and design, photography, design and public relationships for a wide range of public sector organisations. During that time I also gained a second degree in Fine Art and a MasterÃ’¢ï’¿’½ï’¿’½s degree in Fine Art.

    As Constant Communications (formerly Carol Burns Freelance): I have worked on a wide range of projects, including developing new websites, editing and relaunching magazines and PR campaigns for SME and national organisations.
    Recent contracts awarded include:
    Ã’¢ï’¿’½Â’  Editor, The Leicestershire Magazine and Nottinghamshire Life and Countryside Magazine (Archant Life): recently re-launched as bi-monthly lifestyle magazines, with 10,000 print run and is sold in more than 500 outlets. As editor, I am responsible for all editorial content involving commissioning, design, planning, budget and associated website. Working closely with advertising and circulation staff within the company to grow readership and revenue.
    * Writer and editor, High Impact Actions for Nursing and Midwifery: The Essential Collection (NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement / Department of Health). A national 200-page document detailing case studies, gathered through interviews and site visits at NHS organisations.
    * The Productive Times (NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement): A series of \"newspapers\" aimed at nurses and healthcare staff working across the NHS detailing the achievements of peers through The Productive Series change management programmes.
    * Website design and content for new external and staff websites (Leicestershire and Rutland Community Health Services): initially a three-week project to project manage and deliver two websites within the launch date. Deadline met and contract extended by six months to develop the websites further.
    * Editor, Pure Weddings Magazine (Archant Life). Launched regional wedding magazine for Midlands, responsible for all editorial content, design, page planning, commissioning features, commissioning and coordinating fashion shoots, product shoots and real life weddings. Pure Weddings is published twice-yearly with a print run of 15,000.

    Constant Communications (formerly Carol Burns Freelance): I have worked on a wide range of projects, including developing new websites, editing and relaunching magazines and PR campaigns for SME and national organisations as detailed above. My staff roles include:

    October 2009 - August 2004: Health Correspondent, The Leicester Mercury
    This senior role involved running my own diary, developing contacts, finding exclusives, writing features, both human interest and generating photo opportunities and working closely with the editor to develop campaigns. Working under tight deadlines. During this time I also took my professional exams, passing my post-graduate National Certificate Examination in Journalism.

    January 2004 - October 2004: Columnist, The Leicester Mercury
    Daily TV column designed to be engaging and entertaining.

    August 1998 - October 1999: General reporter, The Leicester Mercury
    Writing news and features on daily basis, doing on and off diary news, covering events, reviews of restaurants, theatre and cinema. I underwent three-month residential course for my preliminary National Council for the Training of Journalists exams, which I sat and passed in 1999.

    June 1997 - August 1998: News editor, The Leicester Mail Series
    Managing small team of reporters and photographers for a weekly free newspaper, with six editions a week and delivered to more than 200,000 homes. Developing exclusive stories, features and diary reporting, working closely with advertising managers and circulation staff.

    March 1996 - June 1997: Trainee Journalist, Leicester Mail Series
    Began on work experience and was taken on, first on temporary contract and as staff reporter to write news and features, advertorials, develop photo opportunities, cover events, carry out reviews and

    November 1995 - June 1996
    Editorial Assistant, UK News Agency. Essentially a \'Girl Friday\' role within a newly launched national news agency launched by Northcliffe Newspapers to provide national news to its regional press. Alongside general administrative tasks, I was responsible for copy taking over the phone from journalists covering national stories, getting bacon butties and coffee and news cuttings.
