    Work Experience
    -----------------

    Summary: From January 2005
Freelance public relations and editorial consultant. Projects include leading PR strategies for a range of nationwide clients. These consist of organisations such as the University of Teesside, Connexions and Middlesbrough Town Centre Company and businesses such as vehicle dealerships, fashion stores, jewellery designers, interior designers, estate agents, financial advisors, sports personalities, artists, photographers, new product launches, environmental products, personal well-being specialists, business research consultancies and a dating agency.
This current client base requires a great variety of PR and hence I have built up vast media contacts at men’s and women’s glossies’, trade publications (building, technology, environmental, legal, accounting, marketing, motor trade), travel publications, sports magazines and newspapers, regional newspapers and magazines and business magazines as well as journalists working on national newspapers and general interest magazines. In addition I have many contacts in regional and network radio and television having worked for the BBC for ten years. I also work closely with freelance journalists who contribute to a range of national publications, such as interiors magazines and general interest magazines and newspapers.
As well as providing PR services I also carry out a range of copywriting services for brochures, websites, business research and other forms of publicity material and I contribute, as a journalist, to regional magazines.

    September 2003- January 2005

As well as gaining a real insight into how an agency operates I was also appointed as a team leader, managing 5 other consultants. My main role was to co-ordinate PR strategies for high profile organisations and companies including: - Bannatyne Fitness, Solo’s Holidays, Emap Radio (Metro Radio and 96.6TFM), The Gate leisure complex in Newcastle city centre, Rok (a national building company), the Learning and Skills Council, Tees Valley Housing Group, Coast and Country Housing and Ebac dehumidifiers and water coolers. In addition I executed successful personality PR’ strategies for individuals wanting to raise their own profiles (including Duncan Bannatyne from Dragon’s Den and Michael Fraser from Beat the Burglar and Going Straight). Media placements for these campaigns included appearances on programmes such as Richard and Judy, This Morning, the Matthew Wright Show and Loose Women.
As well as positive’ PR campaigns I was also designated as a crisis’ PR manager working with Southern Cross Healthcare and Four Seasons Healthcare (care home providers) to prevent their brand appearing in the media associated with accidents or incidents.
In addition to PR duties I was also responsible for managing a range of events including: - the launch of the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle which included a reception for journalists at a Justin Timberlake concert, a lunch reception for the British Guild of Travel Writers at the Wellington Arch in London, the launch of a speakers agency specifically for women at the Lords Taverners in London where the guest list included Sally Gunnell, Edwina Curry and Diane Louise Jordan and an international exhibition for Ebac water coolers in Paris.
