    12 hours later we arrived in Mumbai, into what can only be described as chaos. After four days heading south, we found ourselves on a sleeper train, travelling overnight from Bangalore to Kerala.

    Shortly after claiming the top bunk, a childhood habit that never dies, we were approached by a young brother & sister – all alone, begging for food & small amounts of money. They were just 5 and 7 years old, the same age as my niece. It was heart breaking. I emptied out what food I’d brought for the journey and we set about arranging a train picnic for the four of us, buying some simple snacks from the train's kitchen.
    We sat talking and playing with the children for most of the journey.

    I was inspired by that train journey, and started volunteering, working with NGOS, care organisations alongside my fun adventure.

    My holiday escape turned into more than I ever thought possible.

    Then one night, whilst playing around with ideas in my head on ways to help, I remembered a detachable pocket I had designed a few years earlier;

    "if for every pocket I sold I could help a child into education, that would be a start…"
    I almost immediately had a name for them... Pocketbags. Joe&Johns was born.

    For every Pocketbag sold, Joe and John's will provide a child in need, starting in India with a school bag filled with the stationery they need for the classroom. Educate & Liberate. www.joeandjohns.co.uk
