Chloe's bid was one of almost 90 bids for the same project. At first, I was a bit wary of hiring her: although her art work seemed to be exactly the comical style I was looking for, she didn't have a fancy website like the other bidders and she had no portfolio on peopleperhour, so it was hard to judge the overall quality of her work and in particular, her technical skills with software such as Adobe or Photoshop. But I decided to give her a chance anyway because Chloe had just recently graduated (and hadn't got round to the fancy website by then).

Also, she answered all the questions I asked her about being able to comply with the printer's specifications I needed her to in order to produce the finished .pdfs of a children's illustrated book, so I reckoned she would do well.

And I am so glad that I took that chance. Chloe was totally professional from the outset, answering emails promptly and in detail, taking all constructive criticism with good grace (not that there was really any "criticism" as such, more a suggestion here or there, as is usual in editing a book). Chloe did edit after edit without a single quibble.

The pictures themselves were amazing - lively, funny, bright and very well drawn - exactly what I needed in a book for nursery school-aged children.

Chloe also designed the book, both the interior and the cover. The cover especially is wonderful - very eyecatching and yet charming.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Chloe for any task that she applies herself to: she invests herself totally in her work and the end result shows that.

I hope to work with Chloe again in the near future on our next book.
