    Nick Lockett was the first barrister to advise on the internet (in 1993) and moved to be a solicitor in 1999. He has worked for top solicitors such as the UK\'s Field Fisher Waterhouse, top US law firm (Sidley & Austin) in the UK and Stanbrook (now McDermott McDermott Will & Emery/Stanbrook LLP) in Brussels and since 2004 has worked for his own firm.

    He also speaks at 40/50 events in the UK and abroad on public and in-house courses each year and is author of over 25 law books including numerous international law manuals (World Identity Law Manual, World Online Business Law, International Intellectual Property Law and many of the commercial, drafting, contracting, technology law and intellectual property books in the \"Golden Nuggets of ...\" series).

    He has also been counsel and solicitor in many technology based and high-level commercial court cases.

    He advises commercial, technology, media, and design houses as well as other types of company and undertakes non-executive corporate roles.

    He teaches summer commercial contracting courses both for external providers and for in-house private courses.

    Utilising SeeComms desktop internet video-conferencing, (whom he also advises) he can advise anywhere in England and Wales by virtual face-to-face meetings (Clients receive free copies of the software) and can offer virtual in-house counsel cover.

    Was the lead lawyer in the European Commission\'s Guide Internet Identity Project and also one of the major data protection research projects and has previously advised the European Commission.
