This job is to translate web content from English to German for an e-learning site. This is actually a job that I took on about a week ago which unexpectedly ended up being a bit more than I could chew when my daughter woke up not feeling well enough to go to summer camp yesterday morning...! Needless to say, circumstances have thrown a wrench in my plans, and I want to get this job done ASAP as have another large project that will start on Friday.
The Pros: The job itself is pretty straight forward. It's not word-for-word. It's simple, non-complex, everyday language (somewhat redundant at times) -- no special vocabulary, no scholarly theme, no weirdness.
The Cons: It's so simple, it is devastatingly boring. The writer of the original content was mediocre at best, and I find the "wonkyness" of his writing to be distracting at times (Ex: "Here are the course you are subscribed:" OR "Someone starts to follow on you on facebook").
Anyhow, if you want to take a look, it can be viewed here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1N0nQILTAmmKQl5hKNiDI3jKb1Xe5xl_oHQrIkkutFqo/edit?usp=sharing
It's 100 phrases, roughly ten pages, but less than 5000 words. It's exactly one third of what I have left to finish (the entire site was a total of 2,370 phrases, and nearly 42,000 words...!).
If you want the job, it needs to be done ASAP. Like I said, I start a new project on Friday morning! If you do decide to take it, I'm not sure if this will help at all, but you will be able to reach me the entire time (I'm working on the rest).
If this looks like something that you can't do before Thursday night, no problem. At least I tried. If you are just not interested, well, I don't blame you a bit (ha!) -- it really is super boring!
