Description
Experience Level: Entry
I need your help to arrange an appointment with my local french plumber to visit my house & fix a broken hot water boiler for our central heating, baths, shower etc. I can provide a long technical detail of the problem in english (in an email) & provide some pictures as well as the contact details for the plumber. I need your help to call him on the phone and translate this to french for him and then also to arrange a time where he can come onsite at my house to take a look at the problem. I can provide dates and times that are suitable. This job will require 3-6 phone calls, less than 5 minutes each as well as your planning time (30mins - 60mins??) to translate the english text before calling the plumber.
I am also looking to use this as an ongoing service for all of the problems I have out in France, usually with my car and other building problems.
if this is of interested to you let me know, and give me your number and we can discuss on payment/costs etc in more detail
Hi Abdel,
Scope Of Work for services to be translated & co-ordinated in French to French
Task 1 - Fix the malfunctioning Combi Boiler
The boiler is made by a company called aquatherm (see attached picture), it was purchased from the local shop ‘bricoman’ in the neighbouring village of Capestang between in 2004-2006.
Local plumber certified the original installation many years ago so maybe familiar with the installation.
The boiler is combi boiler and is used to heat the water that supplies both:
(1) The hot water in the radiators in all rooms of the house for central heating system.
(2) The hot water in all of the 3 bathrooms (sinks, shower, bath) and kitchen (washing machine, sink)
The boiler operates normally when providing hot water for the central heating (item No 1) but there are problems with heating the water for item (2 - bathroom/kitchen hot water). The boiler is able to start & ignite the flame inside the boiler to begin heating the water but then the fire stops after 5-10 seconds, this process repeats itself in cycles and the water temperature coming out of the taps, showers and batch changes from ice cold to low warm temperature.
Task 2 - Fix the broken Immersion Heater
We have a secondary backup’ system for heating the water in the event the boiler fails, this is an electric immersion heater, also purchased locally.
This is also broken but does not work at all and we need Martins help to fix it
Task 1 is by far the most critical as we can’t use the house without hot water so we would like to prioritise this first, Task 2 is the 2nd priority.
Task 3 - Install a solar water heating system
As a 3rd alternative to the Combi boiler and immersion boiler, we would like to add a Solar Water Heating System on the roof of the house to heat the water during the sunny days of the year.
This is a low priority and we can wait till later on in Spring/Summer for Martin to complete the work

Task 4 - Install a water softening system.
I would like Martin to install a water softening filtration system to remove the calcium and other hard substances in the water supply that comes into the house.
Here is a link to a similar system on Amazon that we would like, anything similar that can be purchased locally in France will be suitable
This is a low priority and we can wait till later on in Spring/Summer for Martin to complete the work
Schedule work between Friday April 27th and Friday May 4th so would like to arrange for him to come onsite to complete the work for Tasks 1 & 2, this may require 2 separate visits, one to inspect the problem and order/purchase the new components for the boiler and then a second visit to come back and install / replace the new components of the boiler/immersion heater if this week is not convenient, i can arrange for one of the neighbours to be there so as a 2nd alternative option if you can ask him what his availability is if the week from April 27th to May 4th is not possible for him.
if local plumber is not available, need help to source other local contacts within the local region and could you call them to see if they can take on the work.
